Mission

The mission of the Yonsei Language Institute(YLI) is to offer language training programs in Korean and English to non-native speakers.

 Purpose

The purpose of YLI is to provide programs focusing on intensive language training in Korean or English for individuals who are seeking a career in or currently engaging in missionary or foreign services, or any other occupations necessitating functional fluency in these languages.

 Objectives

The objectives that YLI endeavors to accomplish for its students and the community it serves are as follows:

1. Acquisition of functional fluency in Korean or English by non-native speakers;

2. Development of language teaching skills through acquisition of competent knowledge and practices in the latest teaching methodologies and practical training of Korean or English language;

3. Acquisition of functional knowledge concerning cultural heritage of Korea;

4. Development of students' intellectual, critical and analytical abilities to foster their commitment to life-long learning;

5. Enhancement of cross-cultural relations between the United States and the Republic or Korea through reciprocal exchange of scholars, artists, writers and others; and

6. Sponsorship of conferences, symposia and seminars on Korean language, culture, history and contemporary affairs in Korea. The Yonsei Language Institute is committed to accomplishing its stated.
